Save countless lives with the building of a health clinic Enable the provision of basic healthcare for the needs of the poor and underserved. Upgrade schools and provide sustainable energy solutions Expansion ensures children don't have to travel or drop out after elementary school. Scholarship fund for students to continue their education With a focus on girls, who often drop out during puberty due to costs and family poverty. Build a **community clinic and dispensary** to deliver life-saving care. Literacy as low as 37% in rural areas. Over 200,000 children out of school. Girls are 2x more likely than boys to drop out at puberty. Maternal mortality among the highest in the world (661 per 100,000). 1.2M Liberians live more than an hour from the nearest clinic. Only 7% of roads are paved; rural electrification is below 5%. Together we can heal, rebuild, and empower the next generation. *At KEDO, the true measure of our impact is found in the voices of those we serve. These are the stories of children, parents, and community leaders in Southeastern Liberia whose lives have been touched by your support. Their words remind us why our mission matters.* "I want to thank God for bringing a school to Kpalo-Bli." "I thank you for building a schoolhouse in Kpalo-Town." *Your generosity makes it possible for children in Southeastern Liberia to stay in school, access healthcare, and grow up with dignity. Every dollar you give directly funds education, healthcare, and community renewal in the most remote regions where help is hardest to reach.* KEDO is now on Givebutter, a modern fundraising platform that makes giving simple, social, and secure. With Givebutter, you can donate, create your own peer-to-peer fundraiser, or share our campaigns with friends and family — multiplying your impact in Southeastern Liberia. **$5,000 Commitment → funds ~20 scholarships for one year.** Your giving keeps children in school, especially girls at transition age, ensuring they don’t drop out due to poverty. **$25,000 Commitment → funds a clinic construction milestone.** Your giving builds healthcare access where families currently walk days to reach a clinic — bringing life-saving care closer to home. At KEDO, we believe change happens not just through classrooms and clinics, but through the power of community. Our events bring together children, families, leaders, and sponsors to create lasting impact. Through our blog, we share stories, updates, and reflections from KEDO’s work in Southeastern Liberia. From student success stories to progress on our clinic construction, this is where you’ll see the heart of our mission in action. We are losing young children to preventable childhood diseases. May God bless you and keep you."** **Stephanie Oville is a teacher and educator with a passion for young people and the next generation. As a recent addition to the KEDO board she is excited to bring her experience and perspective to upcoming projects.** In 1989 a brutal civil war engulfed Liberia and thousands of individuals fled to safety. Some sought refuge in the USA, while others found sanctuary in Europe and elsewhere. Although thousands were displaced, many that were left behind suffered though the chaos that ensued. Today those that were fortunate enough to flee safety have come back to rebuild the communities that experienced the collateral effect of internal conflict that ravaged a nation. KEDO (Kpalo-Bli Education & Development Organization) was born in 2009. Siblings of the principal families of Kpalo-Bli assessed the needs of war-torn villages in Sinoe County, Juarzon District, Liberia. The seeds of hope were planted soon after. Our first project was the construction of a modern elementary school that now serves more than 80 children who once had no classrooms of their own. Today, our focus is on building a community health clinic and dispensary that will provide life-saving care for over 200 families. Join us in bringing education and healthcare to the most remote villages southeastern Liberia, where children and families are among the most vulnerable in the world. For 15+ years we have impacted an entire region and community. We believe education is a doorway out of poverty and investing in community expands the vision of underserved people. Help us create opportunities for these children to reach their full potential. Open the doors to discovery and achievement. Too many children drop out after elementary school because their families cannot afford fees, uniforms, or supplies. This fund keeps them in school—especially girls at risk of early dropout. $250 covers one child’s scholarship for an entire year. Your voice can make a difference! Share our campaign with your friends and family to help us reach more people and bring health, education, and opportunity to children and families in Liberia. Imagine walking hours—or days—to reach a clinic. During Liberia’s rainy season, entire communities are cut off from care. This project is building a solar-powered clinic and dispensary to serve 5,000+ people annually. $25,000 funds a clinic milestone (maternity ward, dispensary, solar system). Every share helps us build momentum! By spreading the word, you’re helping us raise the support needed to build schools, expand health care, and give children the tools to dream beyond poverty and war. Some children are so eager to learn they share scraps of paper and reuse supplies. With your support, we can equip every student with the tools they need to succeed. $50 provides a full set of books and supplies for one child. Many children in Liberia share scraps of paper and reuse supplies just to keep learning. By sharing this campaign, you help spread the word and ensure every child is equipped to succeed. Expansion ensures children don't have to travel or drop out after elementary school. Sharing helps us expand classrooms, add sustainable energy solutions, and keep children in school longer. Together, we can stop dropouts and open doors for the next generation. Without reliable energy, education, healthcare, and livelihoods remain stifled. Share this campaign and help us bring sustainable solar energy to schools and clinics in southeastern Liberia. Every share fuels the movement for brighter classrooms, stronger healthcare, and resilient communities. Would you like to ensure that there is a safe, child-friendly environment to play during recess? Help us to provide safe spaces to play and grow. With deep gratitude and renewed hope, we gathered for the groundbreaking ceremony of our long-awaited Health Clinic. This milestone, part of Project Save Women and Children, represents not just the start of construction, but the beginning of healing, restoration, and change for countless families who have long suffered without access to basic healthcare. The day was filled with excitement and unity. Community leaders, families, and partners joined together as we turned the first soil on the site. Each shovel lifted was symbolic—not just of building walls, but of building a brighter future. Smiles, prayers, and songs filled the air as we celebrated this shared victory, proving that even in the most remote and challenging places, hope can take root. The entire community was present during the official groundbreaking for the clinic. The groundbreaking was more than an event—it was a celebration of faith, resilience, and shared vision. Leaders spoke words of encouragement, children sang, and the entire community gathered in anticipation of the transformation to come. This wasn’t simply about laying a foundation of bricks and mortar, but about laying a foundation of hope for future generations. For decades, mothers and children have been among the most vulnerable in our community, often forced to endure illness without access to medical care. In many cases, families had to walk for hours—or even days—to reach the nearest clinic. Too many lives have been lost simply because help was too far away. This new health clinic will change that reality. It will provide: The clinic is not just a building—it’s a promise. A promise that no mother will lose her child to a preventable disease, and no family will be left without care during times of crisis. It is part of a larger vision of community development, one that sees healthcare as a basic human right and every person as worthy of dignity, compassion, and healing. The groundbreaking of the Health Clinic is only the beginning, but it is a powerful step forward. It reminds us that transformation is possible when communities, partners, and supporters unite around a shared vision. We extend our heartfelt thanks to everyone who has supported us—through prayer, encouragement, and giving. The journey ahead will require persistence, resources, and faith, but today proves that hope is alive. Together, we will not only build a clinic but also a healthier and brighter future for generations to come. **Join us in this mission—because every life matters.** Healing the scars of war, building brighter futures. Yet, in remote areas of southeastern Liberia, it often ends in tragedy. Far too many young women are losing their lives while giving birth, and countless children are being lost to preventable diseases. What makes this even more heartbreaking is that many of these tragedies go unreported. Families suffer in silence because they lack even the most basic healthcare services. We cannot stand by and allow this to continue. The time to act is now. In these communities, there are little to no healthcare facilities available. Without doctors, nurses, or medicines, families are left vulnerable and helpless in moments when care could make the difference between life and death. Mothers risk their lives bringing children into the world. Infants and young children die from illnesses that could easily be treated. And because so many of these losses are unrecorded, the scale of the crisis remains hidden from view. Thanks for taking the time to care. Your support is helping to change lives! For the past seven years, Kpalo-Bli Education and Development Organization (KEDO) has been working to restore hope and opportunity for children and families in Sinoe County, Liberia. Now, through the Save Women and Children Project, we are taking the next step: building a community health clinic that will provide desperately needed medical services and save countless lives. This clinic will mean safe childbirth for mothers, treatment for preventable diseases in children, and a chance for families to live with dignity and hope. "Infants and young children die from illnesses that could easily be treated." To make this vision a reality, we need your partnership. Our goal is to raise $75,000 to build and equip the clinic. With your donation, we can: We believe that together, we can bring change and hope to families in one of the most vulnerable regions of Liberia. By supporting this project, you are not only helping to build a clinic—you are helping to secure a future for mothers, children, and generations to come. You have to empower them. You read with them, you say, ‘See the bright sun,’ and show them the picture. That’s when the story becomes alive.” – Roseline ### Conclusion ## Subscribe to the KEDO Compassion Newsletter In 2017, something beautiful happened in Kpalo-Bli, the small village where KEDO was born. It was a Saturday, not a school day, but the sound of excitement filled the air as children gathered together for something special—storytime. That day, Roseline “Mommy Rose” Queh-Sarnor arrived with a stack of books. She didn’t simply hand them out; she gathered the children, sat with them, and began to read aloud. Stories of the sun and the moon, bright skies, and blessings came to life as she pointed to the pictures, making the words jump off the page. The children’s eyes lit up. They weren’t just given books—they were given the joy of imagination. Look at those faces... excited to learn and ready to grow! As the children listened, their laughter and curiosity grew. Many had never experienced a moment like this before—a dedicated storytime where reading was celebrated and encouraged. When the stories were finished, the children were able to take home the very books they had heard, holding in their hands something that would continue to inspire them long after that day. "She didn’t simply hand them out; she gathered the children, sat with them, and began to read aloud. Stories of the sun and the moon, bright skies, and blessings came to life as she pointed to the pictures, making the words jump off the page." The gathering wasn’t planned with flyers or announcements. It was simple. Word spread: “It’s reading time! Who wants to read?” And one by one, children came running—because they knew Mommy Rose. They trusted her. They wanted to be part of the joy she always carried with her. That day was more than storytelling. It was a reminder that books are more than paper and ink. They are bridges—bridges to imagination, to confidence, and to opportunity. This is what KEDO is about: creating moments of learning, joy, and hope in communities where children deserve every chance to dream. Storytime may seem small, but for these children, it was a spark—one that can ignite a lifelong love of learning. “Help us create more moments like this. Support KEDO’s mission to bring education and opportunity to the children of southeastern Liberia.” Healing the scars of war, building brighter futures. Stay connected.
